Meir King's Arms Bowling Club - Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire

Meir King’s Arms Bowling Club secured £80,000 of funding to pay for the construction of a brand new bowling green after being forced from their previous home by the building of a new health centre.

The Club received more than £30,000 from Coalfields Regeneration Trust, £30,000 from Stoke-on-Trent City Council and £20,000 from the PCT to build a new green and pavilion after a long-running campaign.

BlueSky Environmental Solutions and officers from Stoke on Trent City Council assisted the Bowling Club with their funding application to Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

BlueSky Environmental Solutions were commissioned to undertake the project management of this scheme which included the following elements:

  • Site clearance and ground preparation
  • Installation of drainage system and bowling green sub-base
  • Construction of bowling green using Rolawn Minster Pro turf
  • Installation of services and construction of bowling club pavilion
  • Improvements to site entrance, access path creation
  • Provision of viewing platform and soft landscaping
